Me: Eric Keller

Hi and welcome to my Blog. This is a hastily compiled record of my digital art and computer graphics experiments. I am a freelance CG artist living and working in Hollywood CA. I have written several books on Maya and ZBrush. Below my blog you'll find links to the books and tutorials I have authored and co-authored. I also occasionally teach at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.I named my blog "Bloopatone" in honor of my first dog "Blue". She passed away a few years ago and I still miss her even though she was very grouchy and liked to bite me!

I'm proud to be an instructor at The Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. Take a look at the work of our students and instructors on the Gnomon School Blog and the Gnomon Workshop Blog

Maya Visual Effects: The Innovator's Guide Second Edition

I'm pleased to announce that I have finished the second edition of Maya Visual Effetcs: The Innovator's Guide and it will be available in mid May.  This book contains 24 original tutorials designed to help you use the Maya toolkit in creative and unusual ways with the goal of expanding your understanding of Maya. I made sure the tutorials were written to be fun and at the same time typical of the kind of challenges you might face working on the job at a small studio. I also included a large number of original MEL scripts written by Max Dayan who is a fellow instructor at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. He also helped me ensure that the tutorials live up to the promise of being innovative. I think this is the book I have written (number 7 for me if you count second and third editions) and I think you'll find a lot of good stuff in it.
