Me: Eric Keller

Hi and welcome to my Blog. This is a hastily compiled record of my digital art and computer graphics experiments. I am a freelance CG artist living and working in Hollywood CA. I have written several books on Maya and ZBrush. Below my blog you'll find links to the books and tutorials I have authored and co-authored. I also occasionally teach at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.I named my blog "Bloopatone" in honor of my first dog "Blue". She passed away a few years ago and I still miss her even though she was very grouchy and liked to bite me!

I'm proud to be an instructor at The Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. Take a look at the work of our students and instructors on the Gnomon School Blog and the Gnomon Workshop Blog

V-ray render

I redid much of the textures for the mite and rendered in V-ray. It was not my intention to match the Modo version but it just kinda happened. My subconscious clearly wants this guy to be green. Of course he alos looks all shiny and new and not as disgusting as the original. I guess this is a newborn baby mite?

  1. Looks great Eric! Is VRay worth investigating?

  2. YEEEEEEEESSSS! I love the V-Ray. Like mental ray but much more intelligent. Lots of training materials available. Displacement maps made in ZBrush look MUCH better in V-ray and the lighting is very logical. Materials and lights are all physically based. I think they have a trial. I know they will be teaching V-Ray at Gnomon starting next term (Winter).

  3. Awesome! So i am starting at Gnomon at the right time! Ok I will have a look at the trial and have a play.. thanks Eric :)
